Tight-End

Miami has not touched the tight-end position this off-season. Is that because they are confident in MarQuies Gray and A.J. Derby? Could Thomas Duarte have turned a corner that the team feels will be enough to enter the season with? Not likely.

While A.J. Derby has a lot of potential he is still a year or maybe even two away from realizing that potential and becoming a threat on the field. The Dolphins like Gray but he may not be the long-term answer.

This years draft is pretty deep with quality tight-ends including South Carolina TE, Hayden Hurst, Oklahoma TE Mark Andrews, and Penn State’s Mike Gesicki. The Dolphins need to address the position but how will be interesting because all three are expected to be gone by the mid-2nd round.

There is deeper prospects but no one stands out as a day one starter and tight-ends can sometimes struggle early in their careers. There isn’t much available in free agency but Miami could look to add a cheap veteran regardless of whether the draft works in their favor or not.
