Linebacker

This is a huge need for the Dolphins who will get last years rookie Raekwon McMillan back after suffering a season ending knee injury on the first play of the teams first pre-season game. McMillan is likely to play in the middle of the Dolphins unit with Kiko Alonso on the weakside. Miami needs to bring in a linebacker that can handle the strong outside.

Roquan Smith is the top rated linebacker but there is no guarantee that he will be there at pick 11. Tremain Edmunds is another name that continually pops up as well but he too may be gone by Miami’s selection.

There is a considerable drop off after Smith and Edmunds the only two almost guaranteed first round linebackers. If Miami waits or isn’t given the chance to draft one of those two they may wait until round three where players like Darius Leonard of South Carolina State or Harold Landry of Boston College could end being drafted.

With the linebackers not as deep on the front end, teams who need linebacker help may draft players a round early and that could hinder the Dolphins options in the middle of the draft or on day two.
