Miami Dolphins top five positions of need and why
By Brian Miller
Quarterback
No one really knows what the plan is for quarterback this year outside of Ryan Tannehill being the starter. His contract is a hinderance for a trade which the Dolphins were not really considering anyways.
Miami’s problem at the position it twofold. On one hand, Tannehill makes the most sense to start but his knee is a monumental question mark that won’t be answered until he is actually on the field. Miami was in a similar situation last year and had to scramble to find Jay Cutler to replace him.
On the other hand the Dolphins depth at the position is not good. David Fales has a lot more growing to do before he can be considered a legitimate back-up to Tannehill and behind him is Brandon Doughty. Matt Moore is a free agent and thus far the Dolphins have shown no interest in re-signing him. Which makes sense because they had no faith in him last year.
When the Dolphins will draft a quarterback is not known but they have to address the position and give themselves a viable option should Tannehill go down. My guess would be day two of the draft.
