Defensive tackle

With Ndamukong Suh now gone the Dolphins have a bit of a hole on the defensive line. Jordan Phillips and Davon Godchaux both played well in 2017 but can one of them take over the spot vacated by Suh’s release? Not likely.

At the top of the draft there are two defensive tackles who are starting to get more consideration at pick 11. Vita Vea of Washington and Da’Ron Payne from Alabama. Both could be in play for the Dolphins at pick 11 in round one.

While Miami may consider a first round defensive tackle, they found Godchaux in the middle of the draft and could look to add depth with another mid-round tackle this year. Miami still needs to add a veteran to the mix because they like to rotate their defensive line. Adding a veteran and rookie makes sense and will lessen the fatigue of their starters.

Miami is also high on another rookie from 2017, Vincent Taylor. Taylor took a backseat to Godchaux last season but with Suh gone he will see more playing time in 2018 and should develop well.
