Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase talked to the media today at the owners meeting in Orlando, Fl. and some of it is rather interesting.

This whole idea of a Miami Dolphins culture change seems to be a real one. At least an idea of one. While speaking to the media Gase said that he got the right players this off-season and now has “Alpha-Dogs” that will not tolerate “some of the bullshit”.

This is interesting when you consider what the Miami Dolphins did and frankly, the rumors about some of the players may have indeed been true.

Mike Pouncey – released after being asked to take a pay cut but told the team he wanted a long-term deal and a raise. A rumor has been circulating that an offensive player had taken a leadership role but that all he did was yell. Pouncey’s was a leader but was his leadership the wrong kind?

Ndamukong Suh – Suh is a beast on the defensive line but Suh was not a leader and it was reported that other members of the team didn’t talk to him because he didn’t want them to bother him. It was also reported that Suh was out for himself entirely and wasn’t well-respected in the locker room.

Jarvis Landry – Landry parlayed a 2nd round draft position into a stellar start to an NFL career but he also built up an entire brand around his name. Landry has reportedly been more interested in marketing himself than doing some of the off-season stuff, his camp denies that. What we do know is that Landry was about Landry and the money on the table.

Adam Gase has his fingerprints all over this team now as players that remain from the Joe Philbin era are slowly being moved out of Miami.

Gase also spoke about Ryan Tannehill saying he is looking forward to having him back this year. There was no question that Tannehill is the starting quarterback this year but if there was any clarification on the Dolphins ideas about drafting a quarterback in round one, Gase did not put those rumors to bed.

According to several in the media Gase talked about Baker Mayfield with excitement for about 30-45 seconds. It may not seem like a lot of time but it is significant. Are the Dolphins blowing smoke or are they seriously considering a move up to get him?

On another topic, Gase said he was disappointed with T.J. McDonald’s play last season.

If one thing is becoming certain this off-season it’s that Gase is taking over control of the players and the types of players that he wants. There won’t be much blame to place on others if this doesn’t work in Miami’s, or more specifically Adam Gase’s, favor.
