San Francisco 49’ers – Roquon Smith – LB

The 49’ers thought they had a steal when they drafted linebacker Reuben Foster in 2017’s draft but Foster finds himself again with off-field trouble and looming suspension. It creates a need for the 49’ers whose defense started playing well last year.

Smith doesn’t have any off-field issues and has a talent that easily rivals that of Foster. He can step in day one and be a stud. The 49’ers could look to give franchise quarterback Jimmy Garrappolo some weapons or protection but they would do a bigger disservice to him by not addressing the defensive side of the ball. The 49’ers are getting no breaks in the NFC West with the moves the Rams have made this off-season.
