2011 NFL Draft – Mike Pouncey

There really is no other choice but Pouncey. Pouncey spent his entire career with the Dolphins until this off-season when the Dolphins granted his request for release. He will play 2018 with the Chargers.

When healthy, there were few centers as good as Pouncey was but health was a major concern. Pouncey finished only two of his seven seasons with the Dolphins going to IR the other five.

The drafting of Pouncey was a smart move by Ireland and could be considered Ireland’s best draft pick. Drafted in the first round, Pouncey joined the Dolphins during an off-season that was shortened by an owners lockout over CBA negotiations.

The rest of the draft class could easily be considered some of the worst in Dolphins history but Charles Clay stands out as a player Miami should have kept in hindsight. Clay would sign with the Bills when the Dolphins opted to not match the Bills free agency offer sheet. He continues to play in Buffalo. The Dolphins on the other hand are still trying to solve a hole at tight-end.
