Best Miami Dolphins draft picks of last 15 drafts

2004 NFL Draft – Vernon Carey
Miami turned the draft over to G.M. Rick Spielman and he made waves immediately when he traded a 4th round draft pick in the draft to move up one spot to draft offensive lineman Vernon Carey. The trade was mocked at the time but in hindsight, Carey became the best draft pick of that class.
Carey spent his entire eight season career with the Dolphins playing right tackle. He would start 107 of 121 games but ultimately Carey was only slightly better than average through his career and struggled with consistency. At times having very good games and at times having bad games.
Carey was by far the best of this class, Spielman’s first and only draft class with the Dolphins. Only Rex Hadnot would have a longer NFL career than Carey but Hadnot only last three seasons with the Dolphins before bouncing around the NFL until 2012.
