2007 NFL Draft – Ted Ginn, Jr.

Say what you will about Ted Ginn and the whole Ginn family as head coach Cam Cameron would have you believe, Ginn is still in the NFL making plays while the rest of this class watches from home.

It was a horrible draft class for the Dolphins and one that highlighted the single season of Cam Cameron’s 1-15 record. Ginn was fast but he couldn’t seem to catch on to the NFL standard. While he made a mark in the return game, Ginn often ran to the sidelines and more often than not out-of-bounds to avoid hits. Something he actually still does today.

Ginn however has managed to stick around the league because of his speed and ability to get open deep. For the Dolphins, it was unrealized talent that simply couldn’t find a niche in the Dolphins offense. Perhaps the inability to find a consistent quarterback hurt his development. More likely? A lack of coaching.

One other player of note that did well was Paul Soliai. Soliai had a good career in Miami and compared to Ginn, a much better career but Solial left Miami to sign a big free agent contract with the Falcons after having a very good year in the final year of his rookie contract. Prior to that he was rather average. Soliai would last only two years in Atlanta before finishing his final NFL season with the Panthers in 2016.
