Pick 3: New York Jets

Sam Darnold – QB – USC

I’m not sure how much due diligence the Jets have done on Darnold but if he is there at three they would be smart to take him. Darnold can use a year to sit and while the Jets have a plethora of quarterbacks right now, none are quality starters.

The Jets added Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater this off-season and expect one of them to finish the season but given McCown’s history and Bridgewater’s knee, Darnold could see action in 2018. One thing is for certain, if the Jets draft a quarterback, regardless of who it is, Jets fans will be screaming for him by mid-season if they can’t get the offense working.

Head coach Todd Bowles is a very good coach but is he over his head in New York? Maybe but that might also be due to the teams executives making roster decisions. Quarterback is a must but it might not be enough to save Bowle’s job unless the Jets can find a way to win.
