The Miami Dolphins will have their mandatory minicamp this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. With a bunch of new players and returning ones, which Dolphin are you most excited to watch this week?

There is not much difference from OTA’s to minicamp except that minicamp is mandatory for players under contract. For the Miami Dolphins, this is exceptionally no different since the team showed near perfect attendance during their OTA’s. Still, it gives us something to talk about during this normally dry time of year.

Miami has elected to hold their minicamp this week starting tomorrow, one week before the majority of the NFL. While pads of any sorts are still not permitted at camp, it does give fans and the media the opportunity to get a look at the new players and returning ones prior to training camp next month.

Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post posted his 5 players to watch at the Miami Dolphins mandatory mini-camp this week Monday afternoon. Schad has Ryan Tannehill, Mike Gesicki, Raekwon McMillan, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and DeVante Parker, as who he thinks the media will have their eyes on most, and it’s tough to argue with that list.

I’m interested to know who the fans want to see though. Me, personally, I played defense in high school so I tend to lean towards that side of the ball. As a die-hard Miami Hurricanes fan, I am not at all a fan of Ohio State, but I have a funny feeling that McMillan could become my favorite player on this team. I felt the same way last season as well, and I was extremely bummed when he got hurt in the first preseason game to miss the rest of the season.

I’m just as interested to see Fitzpatrick as I know how great he was at Alabama, and is someone who I believe will become a special player in this league. There are also the new faces like Albert Wilson and Danny Amendola who are going to be interesting to watch. I’m still going to have to get used to seeing Amendola in the aqua and orange because I still can’t picture him in anything but a Patriots uniform, but I welcome the change.

Keep in mind that everyone will likely look great in minicamp. When the pads aren’t on, and no one’s getting hit, NFL players can look pretty good at just running routes. So it’s not that minicamp is something to sneeze at, but it’s also not something you should get your hopes up for either. The national media almost unanimously believes the Dolphins will be one of the worst teams in the NFL this coming season.

Dolphins fans, on the other hand, and I include myself when I say this, ultimately liked a lot of the moves they made this off-season, and believe they can again fight for playoff positioning with a healthy Ryan Tannehill. Regardless, we’re not going to find out which is true in a three-day minicamp.
