Miami Dolphins next stop is training camp
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins have wrapped up their off-season workouts and they players have all split up to enjoy their summer. Next up, training camp.
Miami has not announced their training camp dates just yet and a quick email to the team informed me that the coaches have not finalized the practice schedule for 2018. Rest assured the start will be sometime at the end of July as they prepare for the 2018 season.
OTA’s and mini-camps are in the books and while some are praising certain players for their work on the practice fields thus far, nothing compares to training camp when pads go on and hitting begins. For years we continually hear about players who stand out without pads only to falter come July and August when it becomes real.
The watch this year will be on several players when camp arrives. Here are a few of those.
Daniel Kilgore: Replacing Mike Pouncey won’t be easy but Kilgore believes he is up to the task. It’s a big change on the offensive line but one that should bring more consistency since Kilgore will not be sitting out practices.
Ryan Tannehill’s knee: No one really cares about how well Tannehill will throw the ball. He can do that just fine. His knee however will be on everyone’s mind and how that holds up in camp will go a long way towards the seasons outcome.
De’Vante Parker: Another off-season and more talk of Parker taking another step forward. The reality is Parker is the same player he was in his rookie season. Production wise. All-world talent that can’t get out of his own head. Will this finally be the year he “breaks-out”?
Over the course of the next week we will look deeper into these players and others as we prep for camp. This was more or less a test for my ailing index finger. Big smile!
