The Miami Dolphins will enter the 2018 season with three specialty players taking up three roster spots on the final 53.

Predicting the final 53 man roster is not an easy task but predicting who will be the three members of the roster that take up the speciality spots isn’t as hard as say, the offensive line.

With the offensive line completed the roster stands at 24 offensive players and the following three players who will round out the special teams unit. That brings us to 27 total players leaving us 26 to spend on defense. That should be fun!

Special teams are not that hard for two reasons and they are both listed below.

John Denney – The ageless wonder is on seeing his final years tick away and this season may be his last. Denney is entering his 14th season. He has two Pro-Bowl appearances and signed a one year deal in March. Denney is going to be that guy who now signs one year deals.

While the Dolphins have another long snapper on the roster it is possible that he makes the practice squad and takes over for Denney after 2018.

Matt Haack – Haack unseated Matt Darr at the end of last years training camp but Haack enters the 2018 season without competition. Unless he struggles and the Dolphins bring in another punter, this is Haacks job.

Jason Sanders vs. Greg Joseph

Sanders may have a ‘leg’ up on Joseph because the Dolphins actually invested a 7th round draft pick on the kicker out of New Mexico. Sanders has a big leg and is supposedly pretty accurate but the Tampa Bay Buccanneers can tell you about drafting high rated kickers. For that matter so can Jeff Ireland. See Caleb Sturgis.

Honestly I don’t know much about Joseph but I will say that the Dolphins would not surprise me at all if a veteran was added before or during camp. Miami is walking a very thin line relying on two completely unproven prospects to kick field goals.

For now, the final spot goes to Sanders.
