The Miami Dolphins have called Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida since 1993 but all that could change by 2020 if the Dolphins move.

There have been rumors that the Dolphins have been looking to move their training center for months now. Those rumors broke when attempts to bring the World Cup back to the U.S. included a blurb about the Dolphins training center. Now it appears that the move is gaining steam.

According to a tweet by Will Manso, Sports Director at WPLG Local 10 in South Florida, an approval has been made by the Miami-Dade county commission that paves the way for the move.

This seems like a natural fit for the Dolphins and if they can somehow find the space to develop close to the stadium then it will be very good for the team. There was a report earlier this month by the Miami Herald that the new facility would house all of the Dolphins employees in one building. Currently the team is at the Nova location and the executive offices are located at Hard Rock Stadium.

"Manso also said that the Dolphins would get more money from the county. “subsidies would be funded entirely by the County’s tourist tax.”"

While not written in stone just yet, it appears that the Dolphins are ready to move on from their Davie home for a location in Miami Gardens. The subsidies proposed and agreed upon by the commissioner’s office is a significant development towards a Dolphins relocation. In that article by Adam Beasley of the Herald, he listed some of the benefits financially for the team. It includes and artists rendering of what the facility would look like.

The Dolphins have previously practiced at Saint Andrews in the late 1960’s before moving to St. Thomas University in 1970. In 2006 the Dolphins under Nick Saban added the “practice bubble”. No word on whether or not that bubble would also make the move across the city.

If the Dolphins are planning the move to start the 2020 season they need to start getting the ball rolling on building the facility. They need to find a location of course first.
