The Miami Dolphins have officially started practice for the first time and Ryan Tannehill has led the team onto the practice field.

Training camp is officially underway and the focus for many will be on Ryan Tannehill but more importantly is knee. After surgery last off-season Tannehill should be 100% but he is taking precautions. He walked onto the field sporting a knee brace.

Is that significant? Not at all. Many quarterbacks wear knee braces in the NFL especially after major knee surgery. The vision however is a different one from what Miami rolled out all off-season.

As the Dolphins took to their first organized team activity back in May, Tannehill jogged onto the field without a knee brace. He didn’t wear one during any of the OTA’s that we know of or the mini-camps.

This is nothing that should be bothersome in fact it should be 100% encouraged to give more support to a knee that had been torn.

Miami’s offense and the entire team need Tannehill to stay healthy this year. Until the injury in week 13 of the 2016 season, Tannehill was somewhat of an “Iron Man” with many memes likening him to Superman, the Man of Steel.

The return to camp is the first step for the Dolphins as they try to return to the post-season but most media pundits put Miami’s win/loss predictions between six wins on the low-end and eight on the high-end. Many mock draft sites have the Dolphins finishing with the top pick in the 2019 draft which would place them below that six win season.

If everything goes smoothly the Dolphins and Ryan Tannehill may have the most well-balanced offense since Tannehill arrived in 2012. The offensive line is pretty impressive on paper and the receivers and running backs are now supported with quality tight-ends.

Today is, again, the first step in proving a lot of people wrong but more importantly getting themselves on the same page ahead of the long season.
