The Miami Dolphins’ Bobby McCain has a not-so-friendly history with Danny Amendola and some of that history spilled over into camp today.

According to reports, the two got into a small skirmish at practice today, the first practice with full contact. It’s not the first time. The two have had issues for the last several years when the would face off while Amendola was with the Patriots.

McCain downplayed most of the issue citing the fact they are both teammates and intense. After practice the media asked McCain about the skirmish.

"(That intensity, you pretty much put the pads on, it’s going to come out a little bit. It seems like you and WR Danny Amendola can’t stay out of each other’s grill.) – “One-hundred percent. Like I said, we’ve been going at it for a couple of years now. It’s good, competitive nature. He’s the same guy over there on the offensive side of the ball as I am on the defensive side of the ball – that energy, go get it, try to work hard, be competitive. I’m glad he’s on our side.”"

While the two are competitive it does seem as though McCain is looking for him going so far as to say that when he sees Amendola lining up he tries to get out there to line up across from him.

"(It’s no coincidence that when WR Danny Amendola goes to line up you’re the first one that jumps up to get out there with him, right?) – “Not at all. Every time.”"

McCain assured the media that it’s all good-natured now and that the two of them have buried the proverbial hatchet. Going so far as to confirm the two are friends. He said that the two made up immediately after it was over but said that come Wednesday they would probably go at it again, he laughed as it was a joke.

The two will play pivotal rolls with their respective units so seeing that a little bit of scrum and some camaraderie is on the field is a good thing. At least they are laughing about it afterwards and not taking it back into the locker room. Something McCain said stays on the field .

The Dolphins are inching closer to their first scrimmage and will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to open their pre-season schedule. To read all of the McCain interview click here to go to MiamiDoplhins.com. The quotes are courtesy of the teams transcript releases from the media department.
