Sporting News predicts Miami Dolphins to have horrible season
By Brian Miller
The continued media punch to the Miami Dolphins continues as Sporting News steps to the plate to take their whack at the team no one believes in.
In a recent prediction piece by Tadd Haislop, the Dolphins are getting zero love once again. Do they know something we don’t? Do the not really follow what is going on with the Dolphins and simply assume that Jay Cutler is still the quarterback? I honestly don’t know.
Haislop has the Patriots winning the division with a record of 13-3 while the Bills and Jets tie for the 2nd spot in the division with a record of, wait for it, 4-12. The Dolphins are sitting in the cellar sipping wine with a 2-14 record looking towards a coin flip for draft position next April.
Haislop’s decision to give the Dolphins two wins is funny but the fact he doesn’t predict what two games those are or the fact that he doesn’t give any reason to his prediction is the bigger laugher.
His only line in his short 117 word count slide of the AFC East regarding the Dolphins and this prediction is this.
"This year, the Jets and Bills are easing in new franchise quarterbacks, and the Dolphins are bringing back Tannehill. – Tadd Haislop, SN.com"
Apparently he forgot about Ryan Tannehill in 2016 or the fact that under Tannehill the Dolphins have never finished below six wins. Last year the Dolphins were a six win team with Jay Cutler.
What I find funny however is that when the Dolphins take the field and start winning games, how many of these jokers will back-track off their predictions with quips like, “it was predicated on Tannehill staying healthy”.
Personally I think a lot of these predictions are simply lazy journalism but on the other side, I’m hoping that the Dolphins 2018 opponents are reading into what these guys are spilling out and buying into how bad the team will be. And if they turn out right, then so be it, I will be the first to commend on their internal insight into the Dolphins that I didn’t possess.
