The Miami Dolphins are in Charlotte tonight for their 2nd pre-season contest of the year and here is what you should be watching and looking for.

Three hours to the West of me is Charlotte, Nc and up until about a month ago, I was supposed to be there. Things change. So like the rest of you all I will be watching on television or on a stream that I hacked from someone.

Tonight is an important game for the Dolphins. No, not that important but it will set the tone for next weeks pre-season dress rehearsal. Adam Gase said earlier this week there will actually be some game planning for tonight’s game but not too much.

The Dolphins have some areas that need to be addressed and after a really “testy” end to training camp, the Dolphins are looking forward to hitting someone other than each other. Here are the things that you should look for in tonight’s game.

Ryan Tannehill – It is unclear if he will play and if he does it won’t be for more than one or maybe two series at best. If he plays, it’s only a matter of movement and decision-making and nothing more. He won’t be in long enough to give you any degree of certainty on how the season will progress with him. Whether his drive/s are good or bad.

QB’s – Will it be another solid outing for David Fales and Bryce Petty? Brock Osweiler needs to have a good game or the Dolphins are going to have a lot to answer for if they continue to keep him around or even possibly handing him the number two job. Fales looked good last week and 2nd game in a row could officially move him to the number two spot.

Albert Wilson – With DeVante Parker out and Kenny Still potentially out, the Dolphins are going to see a lot of Wilson with the first team unit and this is something to watch. He played well last week and has had a good camp. Look for Miami to line him outside and watch his route running. This could be where we see him throughout the season.

The Running Backs – Miami has a good core of runners and Sinorise Perry is making a big push for the Dolphins to keep four running backs. He will get plenty of playing time tonight along side of Kalen Ballage and if he can continue what he has shown in camp and last week, he will make that argument stronger.

Francis Owusu – The Dolphins very well may keep six receivers but it is getting harder to figure out who that 6th guy will be. Owusu has had a really solid camp and a great game last week albeit with the third and fourth teams. Can he continue to impress? Maybe but he is fun to watch and tonight will provide him more opportunity. He is battling with Leonte Carroo and Isaiah Ford.

Offensive line – The line looked really good last week with the first two units but not so much deeper in the game. Pre-snap penalties are still a concern so if they can fix that it’s trending in the right direction. First and second team units will be fun to watch against a really good Carolina front seven.

The tight-ends – Will Mike Gesicki do something tonight? Will he get targeted with the first team unit? How will A.J. Derby play tonight now that he is healthy again? Thomas Duarte looked better last week and Durham Smythe showed he can catch the ball. It will be nice to see if the Dolphins get their tight-ends involved this week early.
