Dolphins’ Adam Gase tells his players “I’ll ship you to Cleveland”
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins continue to be a thorn in the side of one former member who continues to take shots at Adam Gase and the team.
On Thursday Adam Gase found himself once again in the cross hairs of former Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry who said that Gase would often tell players if they didn’t shape up he would “send them to Cleveland”.
"He’d tell the player to straighten up or he’d ship him to Cleveland. – Jarvis Landry via ESPN"
Landry said it was kind of a joke so whether Gase actually ever said that is another thing entirely. Landry told ESPN in the interview with them that it was a joke referenced to a trade by the Patriots of Jamie Collins to Cleveland.
What isn’t a joke is the fact that Landry believes Gase sent him to Cleveland so his career would “die”.
"“I just felt like, for some reason, Adam sent me here to die,” Landry says via the same ESPN article."
The truth is that Landry believes that he and Gase were too similar and both wanted to win. Landry views that desire to win as something that drove the two apart. Landry believes that his suggestions to open up the offense were only intended to be helpful but he believes that Gase took them more personally and coming from a player complaining.
Landry also said that while he was under his “abuse” investigation that the Dolphins stood beside him completely. Apparently the falling out didn’t start until the season wore on and eventually negotiations began to pick up.
Jarvis Landry signed a big contract with the Browns and his agent/brother wants Cleveland to drop a full-size, Lebron James style banner of Landry in a show of Landry’s willingness to carry the city on his shoulders. He might want to wait until the season actually starts.
In the Browns third pre-season game held on Friday night, Landry caught three passes for 23 yards. He was targeted more than 10 times. The Browns won 5-0.
