Hard Knocks shows how great the Miami Dolphins training facility is

The Miami Dolphins have a state of the art training facility and HBO’s Hard Knocks showed just how good it really is.

For eleven years many Miami Dolphins fan site members have had the privilege of touring the training facility in Davie, Fl. They have seen how it has transformed over those years. In last nights Hard Knocks episode the training facility kept coming to mind.

Hard Knocks is showcasing the Cleveland Browns this year and in one scene they showed the Brown’s locker room at their training facility and it reminded me what the Dolphins facility used to look like so many years ago and how much money Stephen Ross has put into making it one of the best in the league.

If you haven’t watched this years Hard Knocks then you don’t know what I am talking about. So let me paint you a picture. The lockers lined the walls but not like the old metal fabricated lockers you remember from school. They are nice with a lot of space. In front of those lockers are folding chairs with big soft cushions.

This is what the Dolphins locker room used to look like as well. In 2009 I shot a video of the Dolphins locker room which is not entirely different from what shown last night on Hard Knocks with the Cleveland Browns.

Now, things have changed. In fact, one of those chairs I am sitting in now. The Dolphins held a garage sale when they renovated the locker room. It went through a couple of changes over the years. The lockers were remodeled at one point but remained along the walls. That too would inevitably change as well.

A great locker room does not make a great football team. There is no correlation between the Browns losing all but one game in two years to the outdated locker room the Browns provide to their team. The same can be said about the Dolphins as well. However it does say a lot about the owner of the team who makes every attempt to make sure there is a comfortable environment for the players.

In 2021 the Miami Dolphins will be moving from their Davie home to a brand new facility next to Hard Rock Stadium and there is little question that the new facility will once again ramp up the comforts for the players.

The current seating has everything that a player could want. There is ample space beneath the seat and even shoe dryers. Each arm rest comes complete with USB ports for charging. The overhead compartment is large enough for a player to put their shoulder pads in.

How the Dolphins compare to the rest of the NFL is not known but I have spoken with players who have left Miami to go elsewhere and players who have come to Miami from other teams and every one of them have said that the training facility in Miami is the best they have seen.
