The Miami Dolphins announced a short while ago that they have made it to the final 53 man roster ahead of the NFL’s deadline of 4:00 p.m.

After making a trade and then making hard decisions the 2018 Miami Dolphins roster is set, for now. As teams begin pouring over the waiver wire and put in claims with the NFL the bottom of the roster can and will likely change. For now however the Dolphins have their group that they are taking into the 2018 season opening week.

While there were not a ton of surprises there were a few and some of them are more about who was kept as much as it was about those who got cut. This is the 2018 position by position Miami Dolphins roster.

Quarterback –  Ryan Tannehill, Brock Osweiler, David Fales

The Dolphins have opted for three quarterbacks which in and of itself was a bit of a surprise. Miami could still keep an eye on the open market in the next day or two and neither quarterback is completely safe.

Running backsKenyan Drake, Frank Gore, Kallen Ballage, and Sinorise Perry.

There was little surprise that came out of the running back group but keep an eye on Perry. He had a fantastic pre-season and could be a trade option for a team in need of a running back.

Wide-receiversKenny Stills, DeVante Parker, Jakeem Grant, Danny Amendola, Albert Wilson

The only thing surprising about the WR group is that with Parker’s broken thumb the Dolphins didn’t keep a sixth receiver.

TE’sMike Gesicki, Marqueis Gray, A.J. Derby, and Durham Smythe

Miami kept their top four tight-ends which wasn’t a surprise. The Dolphins could look to use one of them split wide to take up the lack of the 6th receiver.

Offensive lineLaremy Tunsil, Josh Sitton, Daniel Kilgore, Jesse Davis, Ja’Wuan James, Zach Sterup,  Sam Young, Ted Larsen, and  Jake Brendel.

Miami opted to keep nine offensive lineman. A little surprising that they didn’t try to push Larsen or Young through until week 2.

Special teamsJason Sanders, Matt Haack, John Denney

Defensive endsCameron Wake, Andre Branch, Robert Quinn, William Hayes, and Charles Harris

The Dolphins want to rotate their DE’s this year but the surprise was the release of talented edge rusher Cameron Malveaux.

Defensive tacklesVincent Taylor, Akeem Spence, Davon Godchaux, Jordan Phillips

LinebackersJerome Baker, Raekwon McMillan, Kiko Alonso, Stephone Anthony, Chase Allen,

The Dolphins put Mike Hull on the injured list. He should be able to return in October. Quentin Poling was the only 2018 draft pick that did not make the roster but he could come back to the practice squad.

CornerbacksCornell Armstrong, Cordrea Tankersley, Xavien Howard, Torry McTyer, Walt Aikens, Bobby McCain,

SafetyReshad Jones, T.J. McDonald, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Maurice Smith,
