Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans initial injury report
By Brian Murray
The start of this season begins with the Dolphins playing at home against the Titans. The first injury report finds six Dolphins and five Titans on the list.
On the Miami Dolphins, the only player that sat out practice was DeVante Parker (finger). Parker, who broke his middle finger in practice on Aug. 12, is still on the mend and is not expected to play in the opener. This will be the fourth season that Parker has missed the season opener. With the team being one starting wide receiver short, the tight ends could see more action, throwing Mike Gesicki right into the fire.
"(Do you have an update on WR DeVante Parker?) – “We’re still kind of waiting to see how he feels as far as catching balls and stuff like that. He’s doing a lot of cardio stuff. He’s doing a lot of individual drill type things with our training staff. Once we get the green light, we’ll go at it.”(But he can’t catch anything yet?) – “Not yet. I mean we haven’t tried yet.” Adam Gase via miamidolphins.com"
The two players who were limited in practice were G Ted Larsen (knee) and TE Marqueis Gray (foot). Full participants were G Josh Sitton (shoulder), RB Frank Gore (Achilles) and WR Jakeem Grant (concussion).
On the other side, S Kendrick Lewis (foot) of the Tennessee Titans was the lone holdout in practice. The four players listed as limited in participants at practice were the Titans first two picks of this year’s draft LB Rashaan Evans (hamstring) and OLB Harold Landry (ankle), along with OLB Derrick Morgan (knee) and T Jack Conklin (knee).
Coach Vrabel mentioned his concern about the OLB position with Landry and Morgan in question. Earlier this week the Titans traded for Kamalei Correa to help bolster that area of the defense. With S Johnathan Cyprien out for the season and Kendrick Lewis possibly being questionable, that could also be a weakness where the Dolphins to take advantage
"“What you have to do with each and every injury – and they are all different – is you assess where the player is, what the risk factor is for him injuring himself further if he were to come back,” Vrabel said. “And at that point and time you say: Can you protect yourself against another football player? And if you can, then you start checking off the boxes and … give them pieces to see if they can handle it.” Mike Vrabel via Titansonline.com"
We will know more when the final injury report is released on Friday.
UPDATE: The Dolphins placed TE MarQueis Gray on IR with an Achilles tear. He will miss the 2018 season.
