Dolphins week 1 player of the game: Reshad Jones
By Nick Belotto
Miami won their first game of the season against the Titans. Many players made a big impact on the game but this week’s player of the game is Reshad Jones.
Miami’s game against the Titans could not have been more complicated. Four hours of rain delays created a crazy environment that both teams had to struggle through. With that being said, football needed to be played in Miami and the game did not disappoint.
Miami played a solid game against the Titans yesterday, earning a well deserved win against a quality team. The offense played very well and the defense did what they needed to do containing the Titans high powered offense, keeping them in check.
A number of players could earn my first player of the game award for the season. For me, the week 1 player of the game was Reshad Jones.
Jones was all over the place on Sunday and he made a number of big plays throughout the game. He was responsible for two of Miami’s three interceptions and made a major difference in the run game.
He finished the game with seven tackles, four solo a big tackle for a loss, one pass defense a those two interceptions. By all accounts, he had a great day/afternoon. Dare I say, a pro bowl day?
Jones has been to the Pro Bowl twice in the last three years. Even before he started getting national attention with those Pro Bowl selections, Jones was a force to be reckoned with on the field. He consistently put up great numbers and was always around the ball.
This Sunday further cemented Jones as deserving of perennial all star consideration. His pass coverage was good but what he brings in the run game is unmatched at his position. He was all over the field today and showed off some incredible athleticism, especially with the second interception when he was falling down.
The 30 year old has shown no signs of slowing down at the start of this season. Reshad Jones is a high quality player for Miami and rightfully deserves to be this week’s player of the game after his performance on Monday.
Who do you think deserves the nod this week?
