The Miami Dolphins will play host to the visiting Tennessee Titans this Sunday and the PhinPhatic staff gives your our final score predictions.

With the Miami Dolphins set to play their first game there is no need for an intro paragraph. We know why you are here. Here are the week one predictions.

Eric Frosbutter, aka Frosty Butter aka the Orlando Mean Mug:

"Not a great matchup for the Dolphins on opening weekend. The Titans are a run-heavy team with a solid backfield behind a solid offensive line. Miami’s run defense still needs work, and I see the Titans exploiting this area all afternoon."

Titans 24 Dolphins 17

Nick Belotto, aka the Bellagio aka the Brofessor:

"Tannehill will build on a strong preseason and Drake will wear the Titans defense down in the south Florida heat."

Dolphins 24 Titans 14.

Brian Murray, aka the Director aka the Mystery:

"Tennessee has four players out due to injuries, three on defense and an offensive lineman. Ryan Tannehill will take advantage that with his new weapons to target and Kenyan Drake’s going to start out the season with a bang. Miami squeaks by in a close contest"

Dolphins 24 Titans 21

Perry Jarrell, Fishin Guy, aka Tuna Killer aka the Daily Double:

"This is the first time in 4 years the Dolphins open the year at home, that’s home field advantage. I look for the defense to lock this game down to take the win. Miami."

Dolphins 28 Tennessee Titans 17

Gabe Genovesi, aka Creek Bomber aka double-oh-six:

"The Tennessee backfield is my biggest concern and I think Mariota will move the ball well. But Miami’s offense will take advantage of the Tennessee linebackers with speed, and the heat will play a factor late in the game."

Dolphins 31 Titans 27

Sean Moon, aka Moonlight Graham aka the complainer:

"I see Kenyan Drake in this match up the difference. (too much speed/too much receiving skills)I also see the pass rush proving to be a real problem. Quinn has a chip on his shoulder. Wake is a beast, who do you, double team!!"

Miami 20 Tennessee 17

George Keim, aka 6 Sentences aka The Pop in Pop Warner:

"Game 1 is way too early for a must-win game but this is as close as it gets. Many feel Adam Gase is on the hot seat and Tannehill needs to get off to a good start or his days in Miami may be numbered. The national media have picked the Dolphins to be one of the worst teams in the league this season. Because of all this, I think the Dolphins come out with a chip on their shoulder. They take advantage of an already banged up Tennessee team as well as the sun, heat and crowd of a 1:00 home game and start the season on the right foot. Tannehill plays well and the Dolphin win."

Dolphins edge out Tennessee 24-20

Dale-Paul Jordan, aka Three First Names aka I got nothing to top the first aka:

"Two things you can’t get over right away, breaking up with your girlfriend and the heat in Miami. Last year, the Titans played in Miami and the sun didn’t stop shinning on them all game. That heat drained the Titans by creating fumbles, cramps and eventually a loss. The key to this game is in the trenches. Miami is looking for their draft picks to replace Suh, and the Titans have top two edge rushers are hurting. This game will come down to who has the best Oline and who can control the clock. Gase has had months to create a game plan and that wisdom will lead the Dolphins to a week 1 W."

Dolphins 20 Titans 16

Travis Richardson aka I’m Ticklish aka Still Wears Zach Thomas’ Jersey to Bed:

"Preseason is about two things: 1. Stay away from the injury bug. 2. Speed, hot nasty speed.- Eleanor Roosevelt. Miami is healthier and things will be hot during the home game. I see Tennessee struggling to keep their legs and lungs and they got bit by the injury bug."

Miami 24 Tennessee 17

Brian Miller, aka The Godfather aka Papa B:

I think the author is calling me old. There are a lot of injuries to the Tennessee Titans that are key positions. Four players will not make the game this weekend. On the Dolphins side of the ball everyone but DeVante Parker, surprise, is healthy. Still the Dolphins have a tendency to get off to slow starts and RB Derrick Henry could expose the weakness in Miami’s run defense. I think the Dolphins however are really hyped about this game and because of that, I think they overcome their mistakes. It is going to be close and could go either way. This is a “take your pick” game but I’ll give the nod this week to Miami.
