Miami Dolphins shift their focus to the New York Jets
The Miami Dolphins have shifted their focus and are now sizing up this weeks opponent, the New York Jets at Met Life stadium.
Usually teams like the Miami Dolphins, that play on Sunday take Monday off, to rest and recoup from the battle they may have had against their last rival. Then Tuesday the team sets their sights on the up and coming opponent preparing their offensive and defensive strategies. Lets take a look now at this weeks opponent the New York Jets.
Head coach Todd Bowles will lead the Jets, this year like head coach Adam Gase for the Miami Dolphins is in his 3rd year for the Jets. However Bowles was on the Dolphins staff as an assistant coach from 2008-2011, He was also named interim head coach on Dec. 12, 2011 following the firing of head coach Tony Sparano may he rest in peace. Bowles comes into this game with eighteen years of NFL coaching experience, as this should not be overlooked.
The Jets offense is run by rookie quarterback Sam Darnold. Sam stands 6’3 and weighs 255lbs and was taken in the 1st round of the 2018 draft by the Jets. Being a rookie in the NFL and a starting quarterback brings a lot of pressure, like plenty of rookie mistakes. But in Darnolds debut those mistakes were limited, Darnold completed 16 of 21 passes for 198 yards with two touch-downs and one interception, Very similar numbers to our own Ryan Tannehill.
The Jets defense was stout against the run, holding the Detroit Lions to only 37 rushing yards on 9 attempts, the Jets showed they could be a bit more vulnerable against the pass, allowing the Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford to complete 27 of 46 attempts through the air for 300 yards.
Head coach Todd Bowles leads a tough feisty Jets team, that is led by what could be the best quarterback out of the 2018 draft. Darnold is out to make a name for himself, and so are the Jets, this will be a big game for the Miami Dolphins, as well as a division rival. Stay tuned
