Should the Miami Dolphins be worried about Josh Gordon trade?

The Miami Dolphins will face the New England Patriots in two weeks and the Patriots traded for top wide-receiver Josh Gordon on Monday.

When the Miami Dolphins face their AFC East rivals in two weeks they may need to prepare for a new wide-receiver for the Patriots. The Patriots sent a 5th round pick to the Cleveland Browns for troubled receiver Josh Gordon on Monday.

Gordon is one of the best receivers in the NFL. That is he has the potential to be one of the best receivers in the NFL. He has been suspended more often than not and last week he arrived late to a team practice and showed up “not himself” as one of the local Cleveland media put it.

All-world talent isn’t enough to make a player great but the Patriots know that Gordon has that talent. Perhaps they are hoping that in New England, Gordon will not have the opportunity to get himself in trouble personally and with the NFL.

Obviously if Gordon can get on the field quickly for the Patriots he could be a big target and focal point for the Tom Brady led offense. The Patriots continue to try to find their next Randy Moss. Last year they traded for Brandon Cooks but Cooks was let go this year after he didn’t seem to fit into what the Patriots expected.

The Patriots will be without receiver Julian Edelman for the next two weeks so they are searching for someone who take the load off Chris Hogan. Phillip Dorsett has been o.k. but nothing great.

As for the Dolphins, if Gordon is active he could pose a threat in the secondary but there is a lot of rust to shake off for the receiver and Miami will likely use Xavien Howard to cover him. Frankly the Dolphins biggest problem has always been Rob Gronkowski so Gordon won’t disrupt that need too much as the Dolphins still need to take care of Gronkowski.

Regardless of Gordon’s presence in New England pressure on Tom Brady is the biggest key because when Brady is under pressure he is not an elite quarterback. That will fall on the shoulders of Cameron Wake and Robert Quinn.
