In South Florida through the guidance of the Jason Taylor Foundation, Louder than a Bomb: Florida has become one of the premier poetry events in the Miami area.

Through the assistance of the Jason Taylor Foundation and Bluapple Poetry, Louder than a Bomb has become the biggest high-school poetry even in South Florida. Now the LTAB is honoring the Parkland students in an NBC 6 30 minute documentary.

Last year 17 young men and women lost their lives at Margory Stoneman Douglas when a shooter opened fire on the school campus. The event was yet another dark period for American society. A new 30 minute documentary features the MSD Poetry Club as they try to use their voices to cope with the pain that still lingers.

In week one of the NFL season, the Miami Dolphins honored football coach Aaron Feis who used his body to shield students during the shooting. In the process of saving lives, he lost his. The tragedy of that day and the events still linger in the minds of Parkland community.

The Jason Taylor Foundation has been a huge proponent of giving high-school students a platform, with Bluapple Poetry, that reaches beyond simply reciting muse. There are life long lessons being learned in the public speaking format.

Now NBC 6 South Florida has put together the aforementioned 30 minute video titled Louder than a Bomb Florida: The Parkland Poets. It can viewed on the stations Youtube Channel and drives the weight of our countries grief through the voices of those most affected by the shooting.

The piece recounts that February 14th day through the eyes of those who were there. The expressionist poetry segments are powerful and emotional as should be expected.

The Jason Taylor Foundation brought the “Louder than a Bomb” poetry competition to South Florida a few years ago. It originated in Chicago. It has become an annual event spread out across the South Florida landscape and has grown into a powerful symbol of youth expressionism.
