On Sunday the Miami Dolphins will host a booth for voters registrations ahead of their game against the Raiders in a partnership with RISE, a Stephen Ross initiative.

The Miami Dolphins are partnering with the Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality or RISE for their RISE to Vote campaign on Sunday ahead of the Dolphins game against the Oakland Raiders. RISE was founded by Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and through their community work they have taken steps to get people registered to vote.

More often than not NFL football players never register to vote as most play away from their home state or after trades or free agent moves they relocate which often puts voter registration as the last thought in their minds.

The Dolphins held a team registration last year and became the first NFL team to have 100% of its players registered to vote. Obviously voting has become a political windstorm over the last eight  years if not more.

The Dolphins will host the registration event on the North Plaza at Hard Rock Stadium on September 23rd. Rise to Vote is a not-partisan registration effort. The idea is to get athletes and fans alike to register but more importantly encourage them to vote.

The RISE initiative has board members from all of the major sports and do not simply work with the Miami Dolphins alone. They have worked with colleges and universities across the United States, other NFL teams and teams of other professional sports in an effort to help increase voter registration.

RISE however isn’t only about voter registration. It’s about finding a balance of equality in sports and in communities to bring people together from all backgrounds to promote understanding, respect and equality. Using public campaigns and educational directives, RISE works to improve race relations.
