Offensive line

The offensive line has not been offensive this year in fact they have been playing very well despite the loss of Josh Sitton for the season. Miami still needs look at the offensive line as a problem area where depth is concerned. However there is a much bigger question mark.

Ja’Wuan James is playing on his 5th year option and the Dolphins have not sat down to negotiate a longer contract. They may not. James is playing very well through two games especially in pass protection but the Dolphins could opt to look for a cheaper option at right tackle and the draft is somewhere that could provide an early round projected starter. Ideally the Dolphins will keep James and focus their attention elsewhere but it can’t be ruled out.

While Daniel Kilgore is manning the center job it’s entirely possible that Miami look to the draft to find another center that could come in and start immediately. Kilgore has been fine aside from one really poor snap and improvement as the season continues is expected.

Center and right tackle are the areas that may get the most attention in 2019 if the Dolphins look to make changes on the offensive line. That being said if the line continues their progression the Dolphins may look for mid-round help for depth and re-sign James which would be a smart move on their part. Jesse James needs to also continue to develop. The Dolphins have high expectations for their young right guard but if hasn’t improved by years end, things could change.
