The Miami Dolphins will take on the Oakland Raiders today at 1:00 p.m. so it’s time for another EA Sports Madden 2019 game simulation.

Our Madden season has arrived at week 3 where the Miami Dolphins take on the Oakland Raiders. Miami is 2-0 in the Madden season, matching their true regular season record. Will the Dolphins be able to move to 3-0 when they play the Raiders this week in Madden. Only one way to find out.

Let’s get this matchup underway!

1st Quarter

Oakland started with the ball after a long kickoff. Oakland moved the ball methodically down field and was helped out by a long pass interference call against Bobby McCain. Derek Carr was able to connect with Seth Roberts for the first points of the game.

Miami responded by stringing together a decent drive capped off by a 50 yard field goal by Jason Sanders. Miami’s defense forced Oakland into a 3 and out and got the ball within their 5 yard line. Tannehill threw an interception on their side of the ball giving the Raiders great field position. Tannehill did not have a good first quarter, but Kenyan Drake was able to put together a couple of nice runs. The interception, however, deflated anything Miami was building on that last drive.

At the end of the 1st: Oakland 7, Miami 3

2nd Quarter

With the ball on Miami’s 12 yard line, Oakland easily scored a touchdown, with Carr connecting with Jordy Nelson. Miami responded with a 3 and out.

Oakland’s offense looked to be firing on all cylinders, as they moved the ball downfield with ease. Miami can’t seem to stop this high-powered offense. Marshawn Lynch capped off the drive with a big run for a touchdown.

Finally, the offense seemed to have life! Tannehill responded to a few poor drives by picking up chunk yardage on a number of plays to Danny Amendola and Devante Parker moving the offense into the red zone. Frank Gore then punched it in for 6.

Cameron Wake came up big for Miami on the next Oakland drive with a sack to give the Dolphins the ball back right before half-time. Miami didn’t do anything with it and Oakland ran out of time before they were able to put points on the board.

Miami’s offense finally started to click in the 2nd quarter and the defense was finally able to get some pressure on Carr, a very important key to this week’s game. Miami will need to build on that momentum in the second half if they are going to come away with a victory.

At the end of the 2nd: Oakland 21, Miami 10

3rd Quarter

Miami started with the ball out of halftime and led a well-balanced drive to move the ball downfield. Albert Wilson, Kenny Stills, and Kenyan Drake all got involved. After two sacks, Tannehill converted a 3rd and 20 that kept the drive alive. Tannehill then hit his rookie tight end Mike Gesicki for a touchdown. Miami went for 2 and converted on a Frank Gore rush.

Miami’s defense came back on the field and seemed to have no answer for Marshawn Lynch who tore them up on the ground. Miami did keep the Raiders to a field goal, thankfully.

Miami responded with a poor drive, leading to a 3 and out to end the quarter.

Miami’s offense looked good on one drive and poor on the other. They are still keeping it close, however, and if the defense can get the stop, Miami will have a chance to win this game.

On to the 4th!

At the end of the 3rd: Oakland, 24, Miami 18

4th Quarter

Oakland had the ball on their 24 and easily scored a touchdown expanding their lead. The raiders also went for 2 and successfully converted.

Miami needed a big drive here to put some points up and stay in this game. Tannehill marched the team into field goal range where Sanders hit a field goal to keep the Dolphins alive.

Oakland started with the ball and after two decent plays, Carr was intercepted by Minkah Fitzpatrick (“Fitz-magic”) who brought the ball down to the 13 yard line! A few plays later, Kenyan Drake cut down on the Raiders’ lead. Miami went for 2 again and converted a second time on a pass to Devante Parker

Miami was still down, though, and needed their defense to step up and get the offense the ball back. Lynch again seems to be the bane of the defense, as he seems to be unstoppable. Oakland eventually abandons the run, leading to a long field goal attempt. Miami blocks the kick giving the Dolphins the ball with great field position!

Miami starts with the ball on their own 47. Unable to pick up a first, Miami goes for it on 4th down…converting after a 20 yard pass to Kenny Stills! Tannehill continues to hit Stills until he eventually hauls in a touchdown pass putting Miami ahead when it counts.

The game isn’t over, however, as Oakland has 36 seconds to drive downfield and score. Miami’s defense comes up big, bends but doesn’t break and the Raiders run out of time!

At the end of the 4th: Oakland 32, Miami 36

Miami overcame major adversity in the first half and was able to pull out a come from behind win against the Raiders at home.

I don’t see the game being this close in reality. I think Miami will capitalize on a struggling Raiders team and put up some big points. Miami will be 3-0 by the time the 4th quarter ends.

My prediction: Oakland 13, Miami 31
