Reshad Jones likely out for Miami Dolphins in week four
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins appear to be heading into their game against the Patriots today without top safety Reshad Jones despite practicing all week.
Miami has not released their inactive list for today but Jeff Darlington is reporting on social media that he has been told that Reshad Jones is likely out.
Jones was a full participant this week at practice but the Dolphins haven’t expected him to do any hitting during those practices. If Jones can’t go as expected now, the duty will fall on the shoulders of rookie Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Last week against the Raiders, Fitzpatrick had a horrible first half at safety where he often looked confused and out of position. He rebounded in the 2nd half but clearly he has a lot of work to do at safety and today is going to be the biggest test of his young career. You can be that Belichick and Tom Brady will test the young safety/corner often.
The loss of Jones would be a huge disadvantage to a team already down several starters on defense. William Hayes will miss the entire season with an ACL tear and Andre Branch will miss two to four weeks with a knee injury. Despite adding depth this week the Dolphins are still thin along the defensive front at the wrong time.
Miami is facing a Patriots team with their back against the wall. They have lost two in a row and both games were handily won by their opponents. New England rarely loses at Foxboro and the Dolphins have not won at Gillete Stadium since the 2008 season.
Miami will release their full inactive list about one hour prior to the start of the game.
