The Miami Dolphins are entering the 5th week of the season and they will open the second quarter of 2018 in Cincinnati. The mid-week injury list has been released.

The initial injury report has been released ahead of the Sunday game between the Miami Dolphins and the Cincinnati Bengals. What seems to be the trend for the Dolphins this season, the injury report starts out with a rather long list. Miami has twelve players listed, six each from the defense and six from the offense. Five of those players didn’t participate in practice (DNP). Cincinnati listed eight players on their report with three not practicing.

The defense has three DNP players on the report. One of those is DE Andre Branch (knee), who missed last weeks game and is expected to be out for a few weeks total at a minimum. Defensive end Cameron Wake and CB Bobby McCain were the other two on defense that didn’t practice, both with knee injuries. Cameron was a nonparticipant last Wednesday then finished the week practicing and played Sunday. I’m expecting this week will be the same.

McCain’s news isn’t as optimistic and reports estimate he may be out two to three weeks. The good news is FS Reshad Jones (shoulder) fully participate (FP) and OLB Chase Allen (foot) practiced for the first time since his injury on a limited basis (LP). Both of them were out last week and it would be welcome news to see them play against the Bengals. The other player from the defense on the list was OLB Stephone Anthony (hamstring) and he was listed as fully participating.

On the offensive side, the two players who were listed as DNP are TE A. J. Derby (foot) and RB Brandon Bolden (hamstring). The only player limited in practice was WR DeVante Parker (quadricep). Apparently it was something he tweaked running a route last Friday in practice. Adam Gase said it seemed to “come out of nowhere” and is day to day. Quarterback Luke Falk (wrist) and OT Ja’Wuan James (pectoral) both fully practiced and WR Danny Amendola took his usual Wednesday off.

The Cincinnati players who sat out practice were RB Giovani Bernard (knee), C Billy Price (foot) and TE Tyler Eifert (ankle). Price has missed the last two games and is expected to be out a couple more weeks. Giovani’s been dealing with the same knee issue, but hasn’t missed a game yet.

The bright spot on their report was the fact that HB Joe Mixon (knee) was limited in practice for the first time since not practicing the last two weeks. They’re expecting him to be available for Sunday. Linebacker Preston Brown was also LP with a shoulder injury after missing the last two games for an ankle injury. The final three on the report were DE Michael Johnson (knee), G Alex Redmond(shoulder) and WR John Ross (groin), all limited participants.

This report will be updated when the final injury report is released Friday.
