Miami Dolphins Cameron Wake has been listed as out this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. What does this mean for the Dolphins defense?

According to multiple reports, including those from Armando Salguero, the Miami Dolphins losing their Pro-Bowl Defensive End Cameron Wake is a big deal for this Sunday’s game as the Miami Dolphins are looking to shake off a big loss that they suffered against the New England Patriots last week.

The tried and true method of defeating opposing quarterbacks is to put consistent pressure on them. Miami was hoping for Cameron Wake to be a consistent pass rushing force this weekend but with the news of his injury, Miami will need to find that pass rush elsewhere.

Robert Quinn looks like he should be able to provide decent pressure on Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton all day and the hope is that either Charles Harris or Cameron Malveaux can help him on the other side of the defensive line.

In fact, this Sunday’s game is setting up to be the perfect opportunity for Charles Harris to have a breakout game and prove his worth as a first round pick. His career has been lackluster so far and was out snapped last week by newcomer Jonathan Woodard.

Harris was drafted with the intention of him becoming the heir to Cameron Wake and he has been given a wonderful opportunity to show the coaching staff that he is capable of stepping up and making plays when given the chance.

The Dolphins could also have Andre Branch back on the field as 247sports reported that he participated in limited practice on Friday. Getting Branch back could help with losing Wake and give him the chance to rebound after a sub par season and a half.

Losing Wake’s production and passion for a game will never be something easy for the Dolphins to replace. They do, however, have a number of players on the team that are being given a great chance to prove themselves to the coaching staff. This loss will hurt, but Miami needs to adopt the “next man up” mentality and the players need to respond.
