Miami Dolphins win by seven in latest Madden game simulation
By Nick Belotto
The Miami Dolphins continue their virtual season with their Sunday matchup against the Chicago Bears in the latest Madden 2019 simulation.
Miami lost its first Madden season game to the Bengals but will they bounce back at home against the Bears? Let’s find out!
1st Quarter
Miami kicks the ball of to start the game. Mitchell Trubisky slowly moves the bears downfield picking up first down after first down. Miami can’t seem to stop the Bears offense but is able to avoid the touchdown as Chicago goes for three. Cody Parkey is on for the field go…they go for the fake field goal! And Miami stops them! Miami takes over on downs and the defense responds to a great Chicago drive!
Miami takes over at the one yard line and systematically moves the ball downfield with a great blend of running and passing the ball. There aren’t a whole lot of big plays, but enough to keep the ball moving. Miami is able to pick up good yardage on first and second down and move the ball to the 15 yard line to end the quarter.
This was a fast moving quarter as both teams were able to effectively move the ball downfield. Miami’s running game looks to be off to a strong start as both Kenyan Drake and Frank Gore are making their presence felt.
At the end of the first: Chicago 0, Miami 0
2nd Quarter
Miami has the ball on Chicago’s 15 yard line and, unfortunately, has to settle for a Jason Sanders 24 yard field goal. Chicago’s ball on the 25. Miami’s defense does a better job on their second drive as they are able to force a 3 and out. Miami gets great field position on their own 50 yard line and after two passes to Danny Amendola and Frank Gore, Miami gets in the red zone and Tannehill finds AJ Derby for the score.
Chicago takes over after the kickoff and can’t do anything on offense. Tannehill and Amendola continue to make connections as they go for 20 on first down. A big run by Drake and a personal foul on Chicago puts Miami in position for another short Jason Sanders field goal
Chicago needs to score points on their next drive to keep this close and that is exactly what they do on a 48 yard pass from Trubisky to Anthony Miller. Miami gets the ball with 2 minutes left and Tannehill hits Mike Gesicki for a solid 30 yard gain. They stall at the 50, however, and Miami is forced to punt. Chicago can’t do anything and the half ends without more points being scored by either team.
Miami’s offense and defense both looked great in the second half. Tannehill is hitting his receivers for big gains and is throwing to Amendola early and often. The running game seems to have responded to last week’s mess and is helping the Dolphins put points on the board.
At the end of the second: Chicago 7, Miami 13
3d Quarter
Miami gets the ball to start the half. Miami leans on the running game to get the drive started as Drake and Tannehill move the ball to pick up a few first downs. Miami then stalls on offense and is forced to punt. Chicago takes over at their own 20 yard line.
Chicago’s offense picks up a number of first downs and looks to have come out of halftime ready to play. Kiko Alonso picks up a sack but Trubisky finds Miller again from 6 yards out for another touchdown
Miami gets the ball trailing and can’t do anything on offense punting the ball away. Chicago takes over at their own 40 but Miami’s defense responds with a big stop to give the Dolphins the ball back moving into the 4th quarter.
Miami’s offense seems to have slowed down in the third (sounds familiar to last week’s game…) but they have the ball to start the fourth and a big score will put the Dolphins ahead.
On to the fourth!
At the end of the third: Chicago 14, Miami 13
4th Quarter
Miami’s offense is plagued by offensive line issues and Tannehill takes a big sack to start their first drive of the 4th. Miami punts and Chicago leads a time-killing drive that puts Chicago in the red zone. Miami is able to keep the Bears to only three points but things aren’t looking up for the Dolphins.
Miami’s offense goes three and out again and punts the ball away hoping for their defense to come up big. The defense can’t seem to get the stop they are looking for and Chicago is able to run the clock down and come out on top of the Dolphins.
Miami’s offense couldn’t get going in the second half and squandered a halftime lead. The rhythm Tannehill had with Amendola is completely wasted as Miami loses another one in their Madden season.
At the end of the fourth: Chicago 17, Miami 13
Madden is just a game and everyone recognizes that what happens in Madden doesn’t indicate what will truly happen on Sunday. Unfortunately, however, Miami’s Madden team seemed to have the same issue the real time had on Sunday.
If Miami is going to win against Chicago, the offense needs to play consistent football throughout the whole game. Miami’s defense will need to be the best unit on the field and Khalil Mack will need to be stopped. If all those things happen, Miami should be able to get the win at home.
My prediction: Chicago 10, Miami 17
