The Miami Dolphins may not have starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill today and if they do he may not finish the game.

A bigger question heading into today’s game is whether or not the Miami Dolphins can win without Ryan Tannehill as their starting quarterback or with him on the sideline. In the event that Tannehill can’t play, the Dolphins will turn to Brock Osweiler.

Tannehill suffered a shoulder injury in week two against the Oakland Raiders. He shrugged it off but the injury has been bothering him. The Dolphins listed him as questionable on the teams final injury report Friday. Last night, social media was buzzing about Tannehill’s availability.

It’s being reported by the same network above that Tannehill be a literal game time decision today and will be evaluated during pre-game workouts. Tannehill has not looked good the last two weeks and it is possible that the shoulder injury could be creating a problem for him.

How serious is Tannehill missing today’s game? For starters the inactive list could be a big foretelling of whether the Dolphins believe Tannehill can make it through the game. If the Dolphins leave Tannehill activated but also keep Brock Osweiler and David Fales on the active list it would be a clear indication that the Dolphins have concern over whether Tannehill can finish the game.

The Dolphins are one point underdogs at home and the biggest challenge will be creating ball movement down the field against a very tough Chicago Bears defense. Should Tannehill not play that task will fall on the shoulders, no pun intended, of Osweiler.

Osweiler is wildly inconsistent and takes more chances than Tannehill. While he has starting quarterback experience he has not been very good. Miami last saw him in any real-time in pre-season. Two weeks ago he came in to mop up what was left of the Patriots game late with the Dolphins well out of the game.

Tannehill has been tough. He plays through pain without any complaint but if it is starting to effect his throwing it creates a lot of other issues and one of those issues is accuracy downfield. We will update you as soon as we know what Tannehill’s status for the day will be.
