The Miami Dolphins are still cheering on their win from Sunday but will Ryan Tannehill be back any time soon or will we see more Brock Osweiler?

The title is a bit misleading as it relates to Ryan Tannehill but that is what Adam Gase said about his starting quarterback. Should there be cause for concern?

According to several in the media Adam Gase speaking said that he expects Ryan Tannehill will play again this year. The question is whether anyone thought that he wouldn’t? This also begs the questions as to whether or now we see more of Brock Osweiler in the coming weeks.

Osweiler stepped up with a three touchdown two interception performance in replacing Ryan Tannehill on Sunday. Many believe that Tannehill was pretty close to playing which would be an indication that he would be ready for the Lions game this coming Sunday. Now the breaks might need to be applied that assumption.

If Tannehill can’t go then the onus would fall on Osweiler and many fans would be o.k. with that for now and would continue to be o.k. with that if he performed like he did on Sunday. The bigger question though is what exactly is ailing Tannehill?

Gase pointed to a play against the Bengals when he was hit by Karl Dunlap which led to a Bengals fumble return for a touchdown. Others will point to a hit he took against the Raiders when he got up and flung his arm around in circles looking to loosen up the shoulder. In reality it could be a combination of both hits.

It was reported last week on Twitter by Chris Kouffman that the injury was a AC sprain. That has since been denied by others in the media. Still there is something more to Tannehill’s injury than just soreness. Tannehill has been able to play through a lot of pain so could this just be pain that disrupts his throwing motion and follow through? Perhaps.

How long Tannehill will be out, if at all, won’t really be known and Gase is going to likely play the Bill Belichick card and keep him on the questionable list as long and as often as he can. Osweiler will likely take the first team snaps in practice this week and we won’t likely find out about Tannehill’s status until game time once again.
