Ryan Tannehill will miss Sunday and likely Thursday night

The Miami Dolphins are not saying what is wrong with Ryan Tannehill but his shoulder injury will keep him out this week and maybe longer.
The Ryan Tannehill situation is odd in the sense that no one is really saying what his injury is other than an unspecified shoulder issue. Adam Gase told media that there is no “rest plan” that if he wanted to he could “throw tomorrow”. Yet he has been ruled out for the Lions game.
Beyond that is unclear as of today. There is increasing speculation that Tannehill will also miss the Thursday night game in Houston against the Texans. Could he miss more than just those two games and last week?
Tannehill is scheduled to make a lot of money in 2019 and the Dolphins should be cautious with their quarterback. Needing to avoid extensive damage to something that is deemed now to just be sore. Andrew Luck missed significant time coming back from a shoulder injury that he played through ultimately ending in surgery.
Through his career Tannehill has been an “iron man” until the end of the 2016 season when he tore his MCL and partial ACL. Now a shoulder injury is keeping him off the field. Miami is 4-2 this year and in the thick of the playoff talk but how long will that continue if Tannehill is not behind center?
Last week Brock Osweiler played well enough to win but the Dolphins were not banking on Osweiler to potentially play a significant role in 2018, now they may be forced to. The Dolphins are not talking too much about Tannehill outside of what the league requires and even that has drawn a potential investigation by the league.
Last week Tannehill was listed as a full participant at practice but didn’t practice the full day and was ruled out Sunday prior to the game. The Dolphins are keeping his situation close to the chest so to speak but at some point the Dolphins may have to start answering questions they really don’t want to.
