Miami Dolphins read move on from loss and on to Texans
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins lost to the Detroit Lions today but that game is now in the past as the team immediately has turned its attention to the Texans.
After today’s loss the Miami Dolphins will have a short week of preparation for their Thursday night game in Houston against the Texans. Universally the locker room after the game was subdued but the common theme was “it’s one game and it happens we have to be ready to play on a short week”.
A short week it is. The Dolphins will not get much practice time in this week if any. They will hold team meetings on Monday and take Tuesday off or be given Monday off and work on Tuesday. Either way they will travel on Wednesday and do walk through sessions Wednesday night. Aside from class work at the training center, the Dolphins players will need to do most of their prep work at home on tape.
Adam Tase spoke with the media after the game and talked about the short week.
"HEAD COACH ADAM GASE: We’ll find out what’s going on with injuries (and) see who’s available. We had enough healthy guys on the inactive (list) that A.J. (Derby) was close to coming back. We’ll figure something out. It’s going to be a short week but at the same time, we’ll have enough guys to be ready to go. MiamiDolphins.com"
The Dolphins are not 4-3 on the season and no longer in first place for the first time in seven weeks. On the field today the players know they didn’t execute as well as they could have. Speaking with the media after the game Akeem Spence was asked about the play of the defensive line.
“We didn’t execute the way we need to, they ran some stunts that worked”. When asked about the big runs that they gave up Spence simply said, “They have some home run hitters, this happens all around the NFL each week. It happens. You move on and get ready for the next game”.
That was the feeling in the locker room overall. Unlike wins, the players don’t hang around after a loss and they sure do not want to talk about it.
Later this week keep an eye out for a behind the scenes look at what it’s like to join the Miami Dolphins as a credentialed member of the media. What the press room is like and what it is like to be in the locker room after a game.
