The Miami Dolphins will host the New York Jets at Hard Rock Stadium and the stadium apparently is in really bad condition after heavy rains.

On Saturday Hard Rock Stadium was the host arena for Duke and the University of Miami. It rained. A lot. That happens in South Florida. Apparently the conditions were so bad that the stadiums turf was unable to soak up all the wet leaving puddles.

Now there are people at the stadium telling people that are not at the stadium that the stadium is not in good stadium shape. One calling it a “sh%%%show”. Complaints about the Dolphins field have been around for years. Last year the Dolphins fired their turf provider after the Jets and Dolphins played on the bad field last year.

Stephen Ross bought land in the South Florida area where they are now growing their own sod for the field and are looking at ways to improve the turf. That won’t help them today.

Frankly, I don’t really care. The NFL allows baseball and football teams to share fields and there is nothing more disgusting to me than seeing a football team line up in the in-field dirt from the remnants of a baseball field.

Complaints are flowing about the turf today after a heavy rain, not a drizzle mind you, a heavy rain.  They want the NFL to do something but in reality it’s football. You play in the conditions. Unlike northern teams who have opted for domes instead of freezing temperatures. I don’t hear anyone complaining about Green Bay’s frozen sod in late December or January?  Nothing like playing on an ice rink.

The stadium grounds crew we know have been working over night to get the field in playing shape but there is only so much they can do as they replaces sod patches kicked up by college cleats. It’s part of the game, get over it and move on.
