Jason Taylor “Ping Pong Smash” is a huge success
By Brian Miller
Former Miami Dolphins Jason Taylor held his annual JT Foundation Ping Pong Smash tournament on Monday night and it was a huge success.
The Jason Taylor Foundation raised over $40,000 on Monday night while current Miami Dolphins tight-end Nick O’Leary took home the championship belt during the annual “Ping Pong Smash” event that entered its 15th year presented by Publix.
The event took place at the Hard Rock Hollywood. Fans and celebrities alike competed in a ping-pong tournament to raise money for the JT Foundation whose mission is to help children in the South Florida area.
Nick O’Leary and his partner outlasted another Miami Dolphins current player, defensive linebacker Kiko Alonso and his partner for the event.
In the end, the biggest winner of course is the children that the Jason Taylor Foundation is able to reach and help through generous donations and events throughout the year. The Ping Pong Smash is one of the bigger single night events they host.
Founded in 2004 by Jason Taylor, the mission has been to support and create programs that help the growth and overall empowerment of the children of South Florida that are in need by helping with everything from improved health care to education and quality of life.
Members of the Dolphins fan community also took part in the event with Luis Sung of PhinManiacs teaming with local beat writer Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post and Michelle from DolfansNYC made an appearance as well.
Overall the event concluded and for the 10th time since 2004 the Miami Dolphins won the game immediately preceding the event. Maybe they should hold these more often with that success rate!
Congratulations to all of the participants but more importantly to the children who will benefit from the event.
