Miami Dolphins secondary a big key this week against Packers
By Nick Belotto
The Miami Dolphins are looking for another win against the Packers on Sunday after they took down the New York Jets last week.
This weeks Miami Dolphins game has some intriguing match-ups that the Dolphins must take care of in order to pull out a win. Here are some key matchups to focus on during Sunday’s game.
Cameron Wake vs Brian Bulaga
Cameron Wake was finally able to turn some of his pressures into sacks last week, getting two on the day against the Jets. His total on the year is an underwhelming three, but he has been able to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks and seems to be in on just about every play. In the last two contests against the Packers, Wake put up 4.5 sacks and coming off his “breakout game,” he should be able to have a field day with Bulaga at right tackle.
Aaron Rodgers vs Miami’s Secondary
Aaron Rodgers is one of the best, if not the best, quarterbacks in the game right now. His natural talent, throwing ability, and game winning mentality is dangerous to any team he faces. Miami’s secondary has been up and down throughout the season and will need to play a flawless game in order to keep Rodgers from torching them. Minkah Fitzpatrick will need to be on the field most of the game and Xavien Howard, TJ McDonald and Reshad Jones (if he plays?) will need to be on their toes all afternoon.
There is another “Aaron” Miami will need to keep their eyes on during Sunday’s game. Jones has only 350 yards on the ground this season but has 162 of those over the last two games. He has given the Packers a decent run game to compliment Rodger’s talent. In steps Kiko Alonso who is going to be tasked with making sure Jones doesn’t turn small runs into big plays. The great thing about this matchup is that Kiko has been on fire throughout this season and has been one of Miami’s more consistent players on defense. He was my player of the game last week and the expectations will be just as high for the Packers matchup.
