How will the Miami Dolphins stop Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers?
After a crucial AFC East divisional win 13-6 against the New York Jets, the Miami Dolphins now turn their attention to the frozen tundra of Green Bay and Aaron Rodgers.
This is the first time Miami will play in Lambeau in eight years, and should be a good one.
Ryan Tannehill will miss his fifth straight game while Brock Osweiler will make his fifth consecutive start. Osweiler now 2-2 is playing to keep his job. So far he hasn’t disappointed and is .500 on the year.
If Miami is going to have a shot at beating the Packers they must pressure quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Robert Quinn and Cameron Wake on the edge pass rush, must get to Rodgers. Also they need to keep him contained and make sure he doesn’t roll out where he is most accurate.
Rodgers has thrown 62 touchdown passes outside the pocket in 126 games since 2008. If that’s not scary I don’t know what is.
However, this offensive line hasn’t been able to protect Rodgers very well, and with this Miami defense that has 15 turnovers, and a 12th best in the league might be a matchup night mare for Rodgers and company.
None of that will matter however if the Miami Dolphins offense doesn’t show up to play. The Miami Dolphins only recorded 168 total yards of offense, and had zero touchdowns, with only two field goals all day. This has to change if Miami is going to have a shot at these Packers.
All in all if the defense can get pass rush, and the offense can find away to generate some points, Miami has a good shot at winning this game. If they can’t do one or the other, it’ll be a long day and another L for this inconsistent 5-4 Dolphins team.
At 3-4-1 the Packers need this game to stay in contention. Miami also really needs this game to keep pace with the AFC leaders currently sitting at the seventh spot on the outside looking in. Dolphins win a close one 24-21.
