The Miami Dolphins have a bye week this week and maybe that will give DeVante Parker time to heal in time to play against the Colts.

On Sunday the Dolphins were blown out by the Packers and in the process of being beaten they lost Jakeem Grant and DeVante Parker to injuries. Neither are considered season ending. Grant will miss time as will Parker but in the case of Parker, it’s difficult to see him return soon.

The injury is reported to be a sprained AC joint in Parker’s shoulder. The problem is that Parker is not a player who recovers quickly from injury. He missed several games to start the season after breaking a finger in training camp. Then missed time due to a quad injury.

Parker’s injury history with the Dolphins is well documented. In fact Parker has yet to play in an opening game his entire NFL career. Now there is more uncertainty.

The Dolphins believe that Parker can be one of their best receivers but at what point do the coaches realize that his injury history keeps him from being reliable?  The Dolphins picked up his 5th year option and that is guaranteed only for injury. Parker wants to stay in Miami but if he can’t stay healthy what is the point?

Miami will have to make a decision on Parker this off-season. He has been very inconsistent in the games he has played thus far in 2018 and this new injury, should it keep him off the field for an extended period should be the clue the Dolphins need to get rid of him.

Frankly, Parker has the talent you want in a wide-receiver and the size but he simply can’t, after four years, put that talent into play on the field. That is when he can get on the field.
