MarQuies Gray – TE – Out for the season: ACL

For MarQuies Gray 2018 was supposed to be a big season but he never go the chance to get his season going being knocked out in the pre-season. Gray was finally getting his chance to be a starter despite the Dolphins having drafted both Durham Smythe and Mike Gesicki in last April’s draft.

With two rookies on the roster the Dolphins were in great position to keep four tight-ends that could all contribute but the injury to Gray would be a tough loss for the continuity and production of the offense.

With Gray out the Dolphins turned to A.J. Derby who would hurt his ankle and miss several weeks leaving the Dolphins to turn to free agent Nick O’Leary and their two rookies.

O’Leary has had some impressive moment in his short stint with the Dolphins but Gesicki and Smythe have disappointed early although that is not unexpected given the position. The pain however comes from losing Gray who would have bolstered the passing game while the others learned their craft at the NFL level.
