William Hayes – Defensive lineman – Out for the season: ACL

It was only week three and the Dolphins were enjoying one of their best starts in a decade. The defense was playing well and looked to be getting better but it took one play to change the direction that the defense would have to go.

William Hayes made a great inside move to sack Raiders quarterback Derek Carr but trying to abide by the new league rules regarding weight distribution on a quarterback during a sack, Hayes tried to use his leg to stop his body momentum from landing on Carr. The result was a torn ACL that immediately ended his season and potentially his career.

Hayes’ injury was only the beginning for the Dolphins defensive front problems. Miami lost defensive end Andre Branch for a few games, eventually would lose DT Vincent Taylor for the season, Cameron Wake missed two games, the Dolphins would release Jordan Phillips, and the hits kept coming.

With six games still to be played the question is who is next?
