The Miami Dolphins are on their bye week this week and head coach Adam Gase gave the team the rest of the week off. Some opted to learn to cook.

For some Miami Dolphins players however, staying back and doing stuff in the community is important. Others, well they spent yesterday afternoon learning to cook. From kids.

On Tuesday the Miami Dolphins and Publix partnered to host the Dolphins Kids Cook-Off which featured several Dolphins players and 25 kids cooking at the Publix Aprons Cooking School.

Cornell Armstrong, Jerome Baker, Jalen Davis, Luke Falk, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Connor Hilland, Jamiyus Pittman, Quentin Poling, Durham Smythe, and of course Mr. Miami Community himself, Kenny Stills all participated in the event.

In addition the children were from different parts of South Florida and part of the Miami Dolphins Football Unites programs. Police officers from each students area also attended the event in an effort to build better community relations.

Each of the students who participated received a $100.00 Publix gift card as well as special aprons. The groups, divided into two, were taught how to cook pizza, make a Caesar Salad, and make cupcakes all from the ground up.

"“There aren’t words that could express how grateful we are for the Dolphins to put a Football Unites collaboration with different organizations not only for the children but for the adults to come in contact with each other and learn about each other and get an opportunity that probably would never happen to be fulfilled with the Dolphins players,” – Exec. Dir. Lynda Roberts PAL (Police athletic league) North Miami Beach"

The Miami Dolphins have been working hard through their Miami Dolphins Football Unites programs all around the south Florida market to bring positive change and growth to relationships between the communities and the citizens of those communities.

"“We are with Football Unites kids and also with police officers basically learning to cook for the holidays just having a great time baking cupcakes and cooking pizza which is my favorite,” – Dolphins linebacker Jerome Baker"

Baker, who has been outstanding in his first year with the Miami Dolphins applauds the team for their actions in the community especially with the kids. He also added that every week “is something new” and that they get to “know us better”.

The Miami Dolphins are a big part of the community and a driving force behind efforts all over South Florida to help children and family in need. They are one of the most active in the NFL.
