Jason Sanders – K

The Miami Dolphins faced social media backlash when they let last years kicker Cody Parkey leave via free agency but no one complained after seeing the contract that Parkey signed. The Dolphins spent the start of the off-season with no kickers on their roster until the draft.

Sanders was drafted in the 7th round and even that came with a question considering that Miami had been linked to the kicker from Florida. Instead they went with New Mexico’s Jason Sanders.

Sanders has been stellar for the Dolphins through the first 10 games. He has missed only one field goal that coming between 40-49 yards and he has made one from over 50. Last week against the Packers he was four for four on his attempts.

Sanders has also missed one extra point but he has been reliable as a place kicker. In fact he made the biggest kick of his short NFL career against the Chicago Bears as time expired in overtime to for the win. On kick-offs, Sanders has been excellent as well despite last weeks kick that went out-of-bounds.

Sanders success in Miami is a surprise but really shouldn’t be. Special teams and assistant head coach Darren Rizzi has proven that he can identify top talent on special teams.
