Ryan Tannehill is throwing more but it is it enough to play Sunday?

The Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase met with media today and said that Ryan Tannehill has increased his throwing. Is it enough?

According to several reports on Twitter from local Miami Dolphins beat writers, Ryan Tannehill stepped up his throwing over the bye week and increased his range from 5 to 50 yards with stationery targets.

Gase said that he isn’t ready to say whether or not Tannehill will play on Sunday but said that he would meet with his quarterback later today. “He needs to shoot me straight” Gase told the media.

Adam Gase also told the group that this weeks practice would be the biggest telling and that he hasn’t ruled out Tannehill practicing on Wednesday. At this point it seems to be a wait and see.

The Dolphins desperately need Tannehill back at quarterback. The Dolphins anemic offense has been atrocious in the last four games and something needs to spark that change. The question though is should Tannehill be tossed back in?

Tannehill’s “iron man” persona has been taken away after suffering through two knee issues (same issue different seasons) and the current shoulder injury that has sidelined him since the week five game against the Bengals. Brock Osweiler has been the starter since.

With Tannehill getting closer to full speed, the Dolphins are hoping that he can lead the offense to more points and hopefully a playoff spot. When Tannehill does return his offensive weapons are going to look a lot different.

Tannehill will be without his top two wide-outs as Jakeem Grant and Albert Wilson are both on IR. One thing that might not look different is the absence of DeVante Parker who has a shoulder injury.

Miami has to be careful with Tannehill and while it is nice to speculate that Tannehill could return this week what is the long-term prognosis should he come back too early?  Could he be in danger of doing more damage to the shoulder which would ultimately require surgery? That is obviously unknown but with this team and injuries this year it’s possible.
