10 Miami Dolphins players that will determine the teams future
By Brian Miller
Jakeem Grant – WR – 26 years old
Despite the fact that Grant is 26 his body has not taken a lot of physical hits in his still young NFL career. 2018 was his breakout season and he provided a lot of excitement from the position after injuries forced him into a bigger role.
Much like Albert Wilson, Grant has the ability to run multiple routes and that gives defenses problems with coverage. Grant won’t play again in 2018 because of a foot injury but he should return 100% in 2019.
A healthy and stable quarterback will benefit from the continued play of Grant and he is a player that keeps the Dolphins wide-receiver group as one of its strengths. Building around receivers doesn’t happen but having solid receivers under contract who play well and consistent is extremely important especially if a team decides to go in a different direction at quarterback. They become pieces that are already in place to help that quarterback mature quickly.
Again, Ryan Tannehill’s future with the Dolphins is not known beyond 2018 but even if Tannehill can stay healthy and return, he will benefit from having a player like Grant who can take linebackers out of the box.
