The Miami Dolphins would be picking in the 15th spot of the 2019 NFL Draft but because the season doesn’t end today, we look at where they could end up.

In typical Miami Dolphins fashion the team is playing well enough to stay out of the top 10 in the draft but not good enough to make a strong push towards the post-season.

Currently the Dolphins are tied with three other teams at 5-6. Those teams include the Bengals who Miami has lost to, the Titans who Miami has beaten, and the Broncos who the Dolphins will not play. They are a game behind the Colts and Ravens but the Colts own the head to head tie-breaker after last Sunday’s win.

Miami could improve their draft position or they could move further out of the top 10 to 15 with wins. They face the Bills twice along with the Patriots, Vikings, and Jaguars to finish the season. The Bills could pose a threat to the Dolphins as they are playing much better football late. The Bills are currently one game behind the Dolphins in the AFC East.

Looking at the draft order as it would currently stand the Dolphins would pick 15th. They are tied with four teams at 5-6, the ones mentioned above along with the Eagles. Six teams are one game behind with 4 wins. The Browns, Packers, Falcons, Bills, Lions, and Buccaneers. Three teams are sitting 2 games back with three wins.

So what does this mean? Nothing right now but if you are one of those fans who view the rest of the season as a wash and are not taking notice of where the Dolphins draft position could be then it might interest you to know that there is not much of a gap between the 15th position and a top five draft position.

While it is very unlikely for the Dolphins to close out the season with all losses it is even more unlikely that they would see other teams below them win enough games to move the Dolphins into the top five.

Once again, the Dolphins are looking at a mid-round draft slot. We will update this again after next weeks games.
